It was a rainy, windy day; it took us 2.5 hours to set up, and I had to run off mid-way to do something for work.

It's been a week since the ArtStart festival~

Mainly, my issue with it was the fact that management did a piss poor job of advertising, thereby limiting attendances. I think that they should have put a bit more effort, at least in laying out some signage outside the building to prompt people to take a look..Ah well. This obsession with swallows will NOT leave me alone!

This particular painting took a while due to the very detailed subject. The bankground is a smooth blend of multiple teals and blues and greens with dashes of sienna, and I must have spent hours trying to get the medium to behave because honestly, acrylic is NOT made for this sort of blending. This is easily one of my favorite paintings. I think it strikes an effective balance, both composition and color-wise. Actually, I had to re-paint it a couple of times because the colors were not working together as well as they should have, but I finally got everything to work the way I wanted.
